trd springs are made by eibach, but designed by trd.
toyota barely manufactures any part on a car. they design then send those designs to other manufactures to mass produce.

Not remotely true. Almost all TRD parts are made by another manufacturer. TRD buys the parts from them and redistributes them under the TRD name.

Damon is right.
I have "TRD" rims, and they are TSW Revo's.

That's totally true, and not just Toyota. Have you looked under your hood and noticed that all the stuff says DENSO on it. That is because DENSO made it. Under the hood of a Merc. Benz you'll see BOSCH, etc. etc.

Just sayin'.

Here ya go...

http://auto-recalls.justia.com/content/98V245000-HYUNDAI-ACCENT-1997.html

PASSENGER VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE FOLLOWING "SALT BELT" STATES: CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND..... DURING WINTER MONTHS, THE ROAD SALT USED TO DE-ICE ROADS CAN RESULT IN CORROSION THAT CAUSES PITS TO FORM ON THE LOWER COIL OF THE FRONT SPRINGS ALLOWING CRACKS TO DEVELOP. THIS CAN RESULT IN BREAKAGE OF THE LOWER SPRING COIL.

Lower Coil of front in this case and he lives in...MARYLAND!

TRD supercharger? made by Magnusson. :P

my mom's 01 hyundai santa fe just had to have some control arms springs and struts replaced due to rust, but hyundai covered it all under a sort of "hush hush" warranty. when my step dad called the dealer to get prices on parts, the guy gave him a quote of about a grand, but then said "let me transfer you to the service department. they've been taking care of a lot of these under warranty no matter how many miles you have." to me that sounds like a recall. but mom never got anything from hyundai, and she's the original owner.

I think it;s a TSB, and not a recall (similiar thing, except a TSB is on an as needed bassis).

Glad they covered it for your dad.

TSBs are usually only applicable while you're still under factory warranty.

toyota has SSCs (special service campaigns) for out of warranty issues like that. SSC V06 was the old 3.0L trucks w/ the bad head gaskets. i can't remember the ssc for the sludge jobs, but they had one for them too. The wheel bearing/brakes recall on the tundra/sequoia/4runner was also covered under an SSC, but that's one that they were actively contacting owners about. maybe they called it an ssc so that it would be valid no matter how many miles a vehicle had.

mom was upset, thinking that they knew it was a design flaw yet they weren't notifying owners even though it's a major safety issue.
