Need help with remote start

Sup guys. I just picked up a Remote Start from LatinUSMC and im already encountering a few problems. I thought i can slap it together but it looks like it just not that easy. I asked a stereo shop about the install and they told me i have to purchase a separate "Bypass module" because the toyota key has a chip in it. I thought the damn thing came with all of that already in it. Its got a thousand damn wires. Any ideas/thoughts?? HELP i dont want to spend any more money on this!!

I didn't buy a bypass module for my 99 Gen1... I was told that I needed one, but my remote starter worked fine without it.
Installing really isn't as easy as you think. If you're not comfortable taking apart the trims and splicing into wires, I'd recommend you taking it to a shop. At least you'll have someone to blame to if anything happens.
If you do plan to give it a shot, I still have some of the wiring diagrams / locations of which wire goes where.

It really depends on if you have a transponder key (the one with the chip) or not. Toyota keys are thicker if they have the chip, or thin if they do not. If your solara has the thinner key then you wont need the bypass module. Obviously, its hard compare them unless you have one of each side by side. Theres a few diff ways to determine what you have, the easiest would be to just go to the dealer and ask. They can prob pull your VIN and see how it was equipped originally.
Or i suppose you could just hot-wire it, and if it stays running then you wont need a bypass module....
If you need a bypass let me know i might be able to get one at a discounted price for ya

9 times out of 10 you're probably gonna need a bypass module. i have a 1999/2000 and I needed one. I install at an alarm shop, and every Solara that's come through here has needed one for remote start. I've never come across a Solara with a regular metal key.

If an alarm shop is telling you that you need a bypass--they're telling you the truth. DEI's 555X module typically should cost $50.00 WITHOUT having to sacrifice a key. (The 555U module requires a key) Ask them which module it is they're charging you for.

Thanks guys. The shop said it would run me $50 for the module and $150 for labor. I really dont want to spend any more money on this right now so im just going to push it to the side. I might try to re-sell it cuz i can live without it at the moment. Damn i hate it when things like this happen.

I don't know if this helps, but I have an extra key located next to the remote starter under the dash. I believe for this purpose(?) idk?
