Exedy makes great clutches. In fact, I believe they made the TRD clutch for our application. I would definitely use that kit if I wasn't boosted.

Why did your OEM clutch only last a year?

there is the exact post like this a couple of months ago, you might get some good feedback from it.

I bought this exact kit, one thing i can tell you, do not use the release bearing in that kit. Before i install it, someone here said the bearing sucks but i didnt listen, so now its whistling whenever i release it... i'm expecting it to break anytime.

Why did your OEM clutch only last a year?

well this is what happend this is my story, when i was going to school this morning i was on the freeway and the car was doing perfectly fine. There was stop and go traffic so i ended up doing a complete stop threw in first and started to take off i gave it gas and the RPM's jumped and the car didnt grab until later, then i decided to double check and stop again and take off and then the car did the same thing again so right then and there i was like sh*t the clutch is gone, but this clutch only lasted me about a year in a half, then the weird thing was that after those two times it slipped its been good up to now. Clutch grabs perfectly fine on 1st thru 5th. and hasnt given me problems yet.

any of you have any idea on what this might be? im really concerned because clucthes dont fix themselves and i know if it slipped twice it should keep slipping and it stopped.
so i dont know what it could be?
i also hear that clutches sometimes get glazed where oil or something falls on it and casues it to slip and then grabs fine, but i dont know.

Do you notice any clutch smell? Still slipping? And yes, sometimes clutch surfaces can have oil on them causing to slip. But I would only see that possible is if you got a big enough oil or fluid leak somewhere in your engine compartment to where it's leak down to where the tranny mates with the engine. It actually happened to me when I had my freaking DSM. Oil from a breather line that wasn't ran to a catch can dumped on top of the tranny, leaked down and caused the clutch to slip and created enough heat that the input shaft from the transfer case got fused to the tranny. Talk about PITA
