Automatic Door Locks

Automatic Door Locks

Postby know1uno » Sun Jul 12, 2009 3:34 pm

I have had my 2006 Solara for about 6 and 1/2 months now. When I first got it, I remember somebody writing on this forum that there is a code or sequence that you can somehow enter into your Solara and that will turn off the automatic door locks, when you put your car in gear.

Anyone know if this is possible or not?

I'd like the option to lock my doors when I want, and keep them unlocked when I want, without having to hit the door lock button.

Thanks!

Yeah it's in the owners manual towards the back. The system was designed to help people from getting carjacked at a redlight. There is a 3rd mode to the system that will unlock the doors if you put it in park.

3rd mode aye? I didn't know that. I would love to have the feature. That would help me a lot!

My thing is this. I want the passenger door open automatically when I put it in park, in my garage. I'm always loading and unloading something from the passenger side.

Also, the second remote unit that came with my car, is jinxed. It doesn't work worth a darned when I am at home, yet when I take it to the Toyota dealer for them to look at it, the unit works perfectly. UGH !!

^^^ The car manual gave the instructions on how to do it. And I programmed my garaged door button w/ my opener. It works great and it's very convenient.

I can't remember which is which but to lock and unlock it when you go in and out of park respectively, with in ten seconds of turning the key to the ON position, hold the lock button down for 5 seconds and then let go and then for the other mode hold the unlock button down. Easiest way to do the five seconds is to go with the beeping the car makes after you turn it to the ON position. I don't remember what to do for it to unlock when you open the door.

^^ what Taido said, but after you hold the lock button down for five seconds you let go of it you will see your cars locks, lock and unlock to indicate that the feature was set*** And remember to do this with both doors are closed.
