I WON! I WON!

Postby jimmm » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:12 pm

I WON! I WON! I WON!
I got 1st place in the category of 1990 - 2004 scoring 93 points.
Not bad for my first car show, if I may say so myself.
There were probably about 40 cars competing,
along with motocycles and pickup trucks.
The attendance, I was told, was down a bit
because there were 3 other shows in town today.
Nonetheless I saw cars there from 1931 Fords up to
a 2010 French Mercedes Smart Car which also won 1st place.

I lost a point for a bug in my grille, but considering that
I drove 20 miles to get there after a rush cleaning job this
morning beginning at 5 AM, I'm not too surprised. I owe it to
my routine maintenance, because I really have been so busy
this week that my car had not been washed or quik waxed all
week.

The judge told me afterwards that 2nd place scored in the high
70's and 3rd place scored in the high 60's.

I WILL POST PICS LATER. THANKS, GUYS, FOR YOUR
WELL WISHES. JIMMM

This is the first thing I won with my entry coupon in the drawing: an Auto Advance Parts Store car wash bucket filled with lots of goodies like a spray bottle of window cleaner, a couple of gallons of car wash (which I may never use because I have my Meguiar's Gold Class) a sponge, a car wash brush, some terry cloths, some wheel and tire cleaner and some interior detail spray. Not bad for the price of admission.

I'm providing a link below to some of the other entries in the show including my own in a photobucket album. As many of you know already, my car is about 98 percent stock. I've only added an aftermarket bumper grille, some splash guards, and a K&N air filter.

My car was judged primarily on cleanliness and up keep of Engine, Exterior, Interior, Glass, Trunk, Wheels, Concept, and overall presentation and I scored 93 out of 100 on these line items. I won 1st place in the category of the years 1990 - 2004 of any make and models. The second place in my category scored 77 points, and the third scored in the the 60 point range.
