broken window....sort of

ok so basically whenever the passenger window was closed with the window down, it sounded like the glass breaking into millions of pieces, so i always rolled it up with window up

well the other day with the window up my friend close the door and it sounded like a bunch of nuts and bolts falling down my door and now my window rolls up further than it should (u can see the tint cutoff)

so im planning on opening it up myself later today...what should i expect? and what do u think broke? u think its something i can fix on my own?

My driver side window does the same thing, only it hasn't fallen completely apart yet, like yours has. I think your window regulater is most likely broken.

There are these two bump stops in the bottom of the window glass. It's made of hard felt and is held to the window via a bolt through it. So i bet that's what fell apart. It's a hex bolt so make sure you have the proper socket and don't tighen it too much. Roll the window down atleast half way before you take apart the door, otherwise you'll never see them.

I had one come loose and rattle. It's not really the slamming of doors that does it, but driving with the windows down and the road vibration that will eventualy loosen up the bolt.

Would tightening this bolt make the rattle go away?

Possibly, it depends on what's causing the rattle. Easy test to tell is to shut the door with the window down vs. the window all the way up and see if there is a BIG difference in rattle. Just don't over tighten it or you may crack the glass.
