^^ Haha. Well, for one, I'm a cheap a$$, and two, I like doing custom things like what I did in this thread. I know it was just a bunch of work for nothing but I got the sound I wanted, I enjoyed making it, and just for 13 bucks too. It just seems to fit me! :D

Hahahaha now u want 5 speed, and u wanna buy another Solara, gen1 or gen2 ? but im tellin u little bro, the gen2 Solara doesnt look nice with Bodykit Lipkit, gen2 is nice on Stock, why dont u wait for 3-4 more years, Subaru/Toyota is making new Sport car ? in the meantime u learn about Toyota n mod then by the time its out, u know alot.

Unless u gonna buy gen1-1.5 still, cause gen2 power is not much different to gen1 parts are more expensive, gen2 Engine is VVT-i 3.3 our Engine is V6 Cam 3000.

Before i thought VVT-i 3.3 would gain at least 250hp year 2004 ended, i read the info i was really dis about it, only 210-220hp for the new Engine.

So i suggest u stay with V6 Cam, its cheaper n better.

^^I was planning on staying with a gen 1 or 1.5 so my mods/parts would be interchangeable. It all depends. I've only been driving for 6 months now and I'm sure I will change my mind about a few things. I was actually thinking something like a 300zx or something if the Solara thing doesn't work out. 5-Speeds are hard to find ya know.

Celica is fit with ur age, Solara is mid age, if i am ur age i will drive Celica Prelude Eclipse RSX or Integra and Civic-coupe, Supra is cool too a 300zx is alright. These real sport has plenty of 5 speeds more aftermarket parts n cheaper at this time.

Come to Toronto ill lend u my Celica lol ive had hard time with parking, my friend is driving it now.

Actually, I was looking for a Celica for my first car. I bought my Solara at a car auction and as I was looking at this Celica a Solara happened to be parked right next to it. (my current car) I took a liking to it and bought it. But one problem with Civic, RSX, Prelude, Celica, and all those is the 4 cyl. thing. Now that I've gone V6 I don't think Ill go for a 4 banger. I would really like a g35 or something but as of now that would be out of reach for me financially. Especially since I'll be starting college next year and will take a pretty chunk out of my car modding money.

Ilovemylara wrote:Now you should cut off the filter box and use a cone filter. You will get more of a "sucking" sound and much better air flow. Just use a dremel or something to that effect and cut along the green line, then put the aftermarket filter there: Image
p.s. for that vac line on the side of the filter box, just drill another hole somewhere in the intake and glue in a nipple.

What parts would I need to make that work? Any specific clamps, sizes, etc?

Everything you need comes with the cone filter, you can find one at autozone, advance, oreiley's, NAPA or most other autoparts stores, it comes with a clamp. You need the cone filter thats meant for 3 inch setups.. Your intake is 2.75 inches wide, but it will fit just fine, just tighten down on the screw clamp.

Cool, thanks. What diameter/length cone do you recommend, or does it not make a difference?

I just wanna make sure everything fits right before I hack up my airbox (again). lol

Hey guys. I went ahead and chopped up my airbox and put in a Spectre air filter. It isn't a whole lot louder since I had already modified the airbox before, but you can hear a difference at WOT, especially with the windows down.

I had one more question though, can anyone tell me what this thing is?
