Its summer time & I've got my Solara back, so I figured now is a good time as any to tint it. I'm doing a bit of research and i think it says that the driver side and passenger need to be 70% visible... so thats 30% which really isn't much. Do you think I can get away with anything less?

no 30% is already pushing it in the front.

if you want to be safe go %35

each person you see rolling with dark front tint takes a risk at getting caught.

with the state out of money, traffic cops (motocops,) will cite anything they can think that is not law abiding by the penal code.

Ca law states no tint beyond factory. What that means I'd the Mercedes blue is about a legal as u can get in the front in Kali. So everyone who has dark up front risk tickets. What color is your interior? Moonroof? Those two things cAN influence how dark ur car will be inside

i'd actually like the know the answer to this question as well. my front windows are clear as day and my back is black as night. it's a pretty distinct contrast and i'd like to even it out a bit...

black car, beige/white interior w/ moonroof.

..but if the most you can do is a barely noticeable tint, then iono if it'd be worth it.

honestly, i say get it as illegal as you want,

the fixit ticket is only 30 bucks,
i got pulled over for speeding+ tint, got the tint removed the day b4 my court date after the extension allowed. i went to court paid the fine . now im baking in the hot summer days..
im putting it back on as dark as possible..even if i get pulled over for tint . its worth it in my opinion..

so TINT away.. 8) 8) 8)

Im in no way saying you are wrong just looking for clarification. If the law is 85% visibility then you can have 15% tint? Isnt 15% darker then 30%.

think about it like this... 85% visibility (pretty clear) = 15% tint (lighter)

70% visibility (less clear) = 30% tint (darker)

hope this helps.

my rear tints is maybe 10% visibility.

it all depends what city your in too. i have 5% all around and 35% on the windsheild. i've been stopped a few times but i only got a ticket for my tints once from chp on the freeway, and thats cause i was speedng. from what i understand chp are the ones who really trip off this stuff.

85% visibility is much lighter than 30% visibility. tint is measured in how difficult it is to see through it not how much you can see the tint it self
