Yesterday sucked...(got her back!)

Sunday morning I helped a friend move in to his new house. We finished up in the warly afternoon. It was a beautiful day out so on my way back from his house I took the long way. Highway was empty so I was able to have a little fun. About four blocks from my house I was stopped at a light. The light turned green so I proceeded throught the intersection only to have the car in the oncoming turn lane take a nose dive into the front of my lara. At first I was pissed because really, you couldn't see me coming and there is not a green arrow at that intersection? But after calling the police I had calmed down. She had insurance and was very apologetic so I pretty much chalked it up to an oh well, accidents happen.

She drove a '05 Kia Sorento which put most of the damage to my hood and grill. My bumper is scuffed but some of the clips are broken. As for the engine bay, I can't pop the hood but no fluids are leaking, so hopefully not too bad. Air bags did not deploy so its still drivable.

Unfortunately my Mike T's upper Grill is trashed. But on a good note, I won't have any more paint chips in the bumper and hood when insurance pulls through. I was also planning on having the stock grill painted the IC8 to match the rest of the car and give it a more current camry look.

well, Its not as bad as i thought from reading the post. Looks like your headlights are okay... Those are a pain in the ass... like kpxboi0619 said... check the tabs... and if you need to get new headlights... check the tabs on them before you buy them. One of mine has a broken tab.

Thanks for the heads up about the headlight tabs. I spoke with the body shop and they said the upper tabs look fine, but they won't know for sure until they take off the bumper and see the lowers. As for under the hood damage, a few of the cross supports above and in front of the radiator are bent, hood latch is trashed, latch catch is bent and that seems to be it for now.

My Lara is finally back! :D :D :D

The Mike T grill is trashed so BadAngel, I'm waiting on you to find some chrome trim!
I had the work done at the local CarStar. Service was great and the shop was super clean. Approx. how long does it take for the clear coat to dry/cure? They told me not to wash it for 7 days and to refrain from waxing for atleast 30.

Clear coat can take up to a month to cure, depending on the weather. But with it being summer right now, you should be fine to wash/wax it after 2 weeks. Just leave it parked in the sun when u can.

Looks great. I heard when you buy a new car dont wax it for 60 days due to the fresh paint.

That stock grille looks great painted to match the car, GzNutz.
I'm glad you got it looking good again, man. It reminds me
of lines from an old jazz song:

"Nice work if you can get it
And you can get it if you try..."
