Clutch pedal feels weird

Clutch pedal feels weird

Postby mazen222 » Mon Jul 06, 2009 4:03 am

After adjusting the clutch pedal height, and then bringing it back to the same height, it has been acting weird with me.

The adjustment i did was to unscrew the lock nut at the pedal and turning the screw shaft.

Now when i drive, the clutch feels very soft, as if there's almost no resistance when i press it and the friction point is at the bottom (the clutch engages as soon as i start raising my foot). But after 15 min of driving, the friction point become much higher and there is a good resistance, almost like a very strong spring that pushed the pedal upwards.

Any clues on whats going on? I've tightened the lock nut, so it shouldn't be that.

Thanks,
Mazen

I don't have a solution to your problem but maybe the service manual has something in there. My clutch is kinda hard to push but it's a low mileage car so I don't think there's a problem...I did notice there is a spring on the clutch pedal and was wondering if I can adjust the tension. Did you try that? Tim

i dont think you can play with the spring... i spent quite sometime under there. My clutch was very soft, but now, after 15 min of driving, it becomes hard to push and i feel it pushing back much more when i release.

i still have no clue whats going on... im wondering if i have to bleed the system or something. i have the toyota repair manual for the clutch if u want to look into it, in pdf, let me know

I would bleed and replace the fluid first to see if that is the cause.
