Noise from TB cover

Noise from TB cover

Postby decavo » Sat Jul 04, 2009 5:26 pm

My timing cover has a rattle coming from it. The belt, seals pump was changed out about 40 k ago. I have this sound for 6 months now. Should I be freaking out and what should I be repairing.

Thanks in advance.

When it is idling, while driving I really can not hear it.

It seems the noise is from with in. When I wiggle the cover it does not change the rattle.

I did not do the work when the belt was replaced, so I have no idea. It was done at a toyo shop no the stealership. When the work was done I told them to replace what ever they could while in there.

is it a uniform rattle (like the rattle stays constant at different RPMs?)

does the rattle correlate to engine revs (rev up the engine, and the rattles increase with it)?

is 'rattle' the best word for it, or would 'ticking' also be an adequate description of the sound?

if it's not the timing cover, then maybe the valves need adjustment?

any other symptoms? oil leaking? boggy engine? or does everything else work fine, except it sounds bad?
