Ohhh. Hell, if i was gonna do that couldn't I just fasten another piece of pipe to it and then go buy a cone filter? I'll do something with it tomorrow.

Just curious, how would one go about removing the airbox and replacing the air filter with a cone filter?

I got rid of the silencer and cut a hole at the bottom of my airbox and it made a pretty big difference in sound (especially at WOT, its VERY audible from outside). I just wanted to see how much further I can take this. :-D

Okay, I took off the snorkel today. I noticed a small difference when revving but when driving i notice a big difference. In 2nd and 3rd gear WOT it really roars. Thanks for the help. I think when I get the money i'll upgrade to a SRI or CAI.

Oh great Kentucky, i have a best friend lived there, she visited me twice already, my car made in Kentucky :) the 99 made in Cambridge Ontario Canada.

The SRI we had, it is the same like the one on Ebay but its not ebay its just cheap SRI, ive mod it to fit with all Toyota V6 3.0L any Toyota with V6 Cam 3.0L will fit, for Solara, the MAF sensor is too sensitive it detected Cheap Shi-t and it turned on the CHECK Engine light, i just installed to my 94-Camry V6 today, i drove for 5 hours and it work great. Great sound ofcourse. I have the pic of this SRI but this forum cant upload directly, im too lazy to register an acc for imageshack or photobucket.

Okay, haha, I finally finished up the project. I have a few pics and a vid here. Ill try and get an actual driving vid because you can actually hear the engine. Revving does it no justice. In the video I was seeing if the exhaust sounded any different so that's just the video I'm gonna use.

Now you should cut off the filter box and use a cone filter. You will get more of a "sucking" sound and much better air flow. Just use a dremel or something to that effect and cut along the green line, then put the aftermarket filter there: Image
p.s. for that vac line on the side of the filter box, just drill another hole somewhere in the intake and glue in a nipple.

^^I appreciate the advice and I would do it I just want to do mods that are reversible. I will be selling my Solara sometime here in the next lil' bit when I learn to drive a manual. I want everything I do to be reversible so I can easily put my car back to stock and sell it. I will probably be getting another Solara, just a 5-speed. I will def. do that on the next one though, I may even get an SRI haha.
