I think I'll take you up on that suggestion. I will def be removing the snorkel though. One question. If I open up/cut holes in the filter box wouldn't that = hot air? Stock, the intake pulls cold air, from the inner fender. I know more airflow should always be better but when its hot? What do you think?

the intake does not pull air from inside the fender like you think the snorkel just goes down into the tank and comes back up into the engine bay right behind the head light

It'll growl more when you are driving it, once the engine is under load it makes soo much more noise. Definalty do the filter delete mod.. its easy, and all you have to buy is a filter. I can give you directions if you need them.

I guess I'll try it. Directions would be nice. Couldn't I just cut a big hole in the bottom of the filter box?

D-money - Are you sure? Im not trying to prove you wrong, I know that you've been in there but my dad is a dealer and he said it pulled from inner fender. If so, great, I get to prove him wrong and do my filter mod! :D

D-money is right man, the air comes from behind the headlight, goes down the snorkel, into the reservoir, then back to the intake, no air gets pulled from the fender. Trust me, I removed all my stock intake, including the resorvoir.
You could very easily cut a hole in the box, but you would get more sound with a complete box delete. its all up to you. For now, I would just cut the hole, and if you like that, cut off the filterbox, and buy a filter, then simply clamp it on. All you need is a dremal (hacksaw wont do the job, too many complex curves to cut.)

You mean removing the snorkel? How do I go about doing that? Thanks for help.

And the exact reason I don't want to buy a Injen SRI, $$. I have things on list that go before a SRI. TRD Exhaust and the rest of the lip kit are on my ticket before that.

sound from revving in park is going to be different from going WOT while driving at corresponding RPMs.

also, sound while enging is warming up is going to be different than sound while engine is at operating temp.

I went out and took it for a run in the park a few minutes ago. Didn't get to go WOT bcuz the speed limit was 15 lol but that was closest place. Anyways, I did notice a difference when I mashed on the gas. It wasn't an incredible difference but it was definitely noticeable.
