Noisy Lifters

Well, I noticed that there is a clicking sound that mirrors the RPM's as I accelerate. Some guy at an auto parts place said that I could switch to a 20-50 oil or use lifter free that silences it. I used a 10-30 last oil change. What do you recommend I do? I need this car for 9 more months and I will be purchasing a new one.

Thanks guys,
-D

How much does that service typically go for? If it's not done, will it be detrimental to the car?

Ahhh the curse of the ticking noise. Usually all 2az's do it and 1mzs tend to tick after 100k miles. Mine does and Im not one bit concerned, although if you cant live with it, you can adjust the valvetrain. heres a guide: http://arrc.epnet.com/autoapp/8955/8955 ... STMEN1.htm It has instructions for any and all engines ever put into the solara, thats 5sfe,2az, and 1mz...

Thanks for the feedback guys. Not too concerned anymore. Given the sound is annoying, but as long as it isnt lethal to the engine, it's ok with me.
