Yeah man don't ever take off the battery terminal while the car is on. Can cause a short. You trying getting your charging system tested? If you you decide to get another battery get a red top optima. You don't need a yellow top. Im on my second red top on my second toyota and they have done great!

I guess I should get me a new battery soon then....I still have the original stock battery in my gen1. It still works fine for me....the little "eye" isn't green anymore though...

I'm a fan of Interstate batteries.

:o that's a long time. The original Toyota one I had lasted 6 years. I guess they are pretty good batteries.

I'm going to wait until the end of the week to see if my car dies again, before I buy a battery. But a gold top is in mind.

I have had the same Red Top in my RX300 since Dec. 2004. It's been very reliable. I'd probably consider to move to lightweight battery the next time around like a Braille, maybe an Odyssey, pretty much depends on price. $150 is what I paid for the Red Top, a 34/78.

The Optima is a nice looking battery, and, according to the reading, it may be well worth its price. Thanks guys. I'll keep it in mind when I think its battery shopping time. Jimmm
