TxBmbleBee's Tranny Swap Complete(...sorta)! 2/7/10

Postby TxBmbleBee » Sun Apr 12, 2009 11:47 am

lol well this hasnt been quite that cheap. After I buy the fidanza and prob stage 2 or 3 clutch, I'll be hitting the $2000 mark or just under it. Which, after reading on here is pretty spot on from what others have paid. But yea I have read tooo many good things about the fidanza flywheel, im very excited.

btw while im posting in here, does anyone know how the hell to drain the torque converter??? i swear i must be missing something but i cannot figure it out for the life of me. Its quite heavy with all the fluid in it too.

When I did that swap with my other car, I just pulled it and drained as much as i could and then got rid of it, it had so much fluid in it. I never did get around to draining it. Just sell it as is haha.

yeah the only way i've ever seen someone drain a torque convertor was to drill a hole in it, ruining it. but it got all the fluid out!

I ordered mine from "RaptorRacing" on ToyotaNation.
I think you should be able to find some Energy Suspension ones.
Not really.
All you need is some big muscles, and a table vise and a hammer, and a saw, and sand paper, and parts cleaner.
Nice.
Dang man, that's good.
I know i was just jokin'.
Sweet action. lol.

oh yea and remember that pesky mount that the axle was stuck in, i beat the crap out of it on a press haha

some may have said why even bother with making the tranny look nice but it was seriously bothering me, I was trying for weeks to clean it up but it just wasn't looking like I had planned. for $65 I am more than satisfied with the results. hopefully more updates this weekend when I put this badboy in. thanks yall

special thanks to Lowell for his help and his press, and thanks to Pels for the sandblasting info!

I know how you feel about the dirty transmission.

I've been known to put my car on jackstands and detail the underside of my engine on many occasions.

nice shift boot...
