I typically ran 10W30 Mobil1, since weather here in the caribbean is mostly hot all year round. Currently running my first batch of 10W30 Royal Purple.

Not sure yet...still under 2000 miles on it. I decided to change since it was $6.99 a quart specially priced. Mobil1 did the Solara's engine good.

I ran 5w50 year round in Texas in a 1996 Toyota Paseo for years until one time someone explained that might not be a great idea. Never had oil pump issues, but when I switched to 5w30, it seemed to gain a couple horses.

This was the best Paseo (Gen 2 of course) :P I wish I had a better camera and took more pictures back then. It was the cleanest Paseo you ever saw. :D Yeah, I miss it sometimes. Would be a nice commuter, I should have kept it.

Try 10-30w Mobile 1 synthetic, you'll see the real power :) i always use synthetic and Super fuel, always change new air filter, start engine in a proper way. lol my Solara = Mustang Killar !

Nice looking Paseo...I liked that boxier last gen except I don't fit very well in small cars. However, 2150lb with a more powerful engine made those things fly.

BTW, never forget that the engine will always see more extreme temperature ranges on the hotter side than any ambient temperature will provide. Manufacturer's recommendation for oil will allow for proper engine function with a stock vehicle. Heavily modded cars are another topic.
