ok so after realizing that i probably wasn't going to find any blacked out corners i got bored and decided to open my corner lenses. i was able to pry them open withhout cracking anything. the lense actually came off pretty easy.

now my question is what part of the reflector should i paint black? and how do i seal it back again?

Tape off the oval part where the bulb shines thru, and paint the rest black,

U can seal it with Clear silicone (u can get it for 4-5 bux at pepboys).

the oval part actually comes off there are 2 clips holding it. what about the part where the amber piece was? on the aftermarket ones there is a clear reflector in place of the amber. do i just leave this chrome and paint around it?

you're probably going to have to buy a set of clear corners if you want that silver reflective piece. If you're trying to duplicate what you have in mind. I would see if the ones you want can be purchased first, but good luck if you want to go the DIY route.

You might be able to paint your old reflector a different color. What color is your car? if you have a white or red car I think it would look sweet painted the color of your car.
