HELP!!! check engine light code: PO128

HELP!!! check engine light code: PO128

Postby peejay » Sun May 31, 2009 3:36 pm

My check engine light is still on and got the code from Auto Zone "PO128", did anyone here experienced this code??? what was the cause and what should be done or replaced??? i also have a funny thing to say and noticed with my Solara... after the check engine light went on. Every time i drive "literally driving" specially the freeway or any open roads my temp gauge drops to 3/4, the engine gets cold and when i make a stop for 3-5mins or in a traffic the temp goes up, up to normal "1/2" of the temp gauge it never goes more than 1/2 of the gauge... then when i drive it drops again...

I just don't know if should go to the dealership and have this diagnose and let them take care of the rest, but you know how dealerships are when it comes to $$$$$...

Thanks in advance for the help & advice fellas!!! :fadein:

Dude, autozone should have given you the possibles. Either way, we have a post with codes and their meaning. You have to learn to search in here or you will be flamed.

As for the temp thing, I vote its a thermostat stuck in open.

Ehem, here is the link taken from search...

...which confirms my theory.

I would think its not low coolant level since your temps go down when running at return to normal (middle position) when stopped. It could be the sensor, but check the thermostat first.

Now you have two possibilities.
