Driver Side windows Motor Out

Driver Side windows Motor Out

Postby Grnarowana » Tue May 26, 2009 2:52 pm

Hi Guys,

My 99' Solara's Driver side window finally gave out.

I was on my road trip with my girlfriend to SF from SoCAL and before I even left the freeway - my windows wouldn't roll back up!!! SO i had to use her convertible sebring, which was a bummer because it takes a while to go 80mph on freeway.

Can this be a Do It Yourself project for mechanical illiterate people? If not, what is the ballpark figure to get this fixed?

Thanks!

Did you notice anything (like warning signs) that your window motor was going out. I only ask because mine has been making an ackward clunk sound when I wind it up.

I took the car to the shop and the regulator was out. Cost 273 to fix. TOo high? Let me know if that's an avg price to fix a non-working window. I don't want to go back to that shop if I got ripped off.

Thanks!

i paid the same amount if not a bit more to fix at toyota... the part is much more than 80$ if its new... my mechanic wasn't able to do it, so i ended up going to toyota.

also, buying a ued part is a bit risky imo... they all brake sooner or later, so buying a used one is not safe
