Warning Lights- Freaky!

Warning Lights- Freaky!

Postby tresola » Mon May 25, 2009 4:41 pm

I had a really experience driving home today from a shopping trip. Here were the conditions- it was windy, and I was heading up an onramp, and was merging onto the highway. I was doing probably 50mph and had a little struggle controlling the car against the wind. As I was moving over, the tranny seemed to do a harder shift like I stepped on the gas hard and it downshifted, and when I looked down, there were three warning lights on! (I think since I can't find a picture of all the warning lights laid out) they were the Traction Control Slipping, Trac Off and ABS light. I am assuming maybe I had hit something while I was moving over in combination with the wind that this happened. I'm just kind of nervous since I've never had anything like that happen before. I haven't driven the car much, possibly around 400 miles now. I just had the tranny flushed two weeks ago.

Any possible explanations other than I had a gremlin or possibility of hitting something on the road?

Do you remember what the tranny fluid looked like?
Hopefully it was just a freak encounter. But, many (including myself) have had issues with having the tranny flush and trans problems afterward. Check the fluid level and hope for the best.
Got Boost?? :sweet:

Well, fortunately so far it seems to be a freak thing. I took the ramp by my house hard this morning and nothing. I repeated the drive yesterday and when I hit the spot where the lights went off, nothing. Of course, it was chillier and the wind was calm too. I will go have the battery tested anyways, my coworker also chimed in when that happened to him it was a bad battery. That and the alternator were tested before I bought the car, but either piece could have headed south since then, they do that.

As for the tranny, i watched closely the rpms and it seemed just fine. I do find once in awhile since the tranny fluid was changed it shifts slightly harder. BTW the fluid was fine before they did the change; the mechanic wrote down the wrong directions and did it anyways. At least I wasn't charged, but I too am worried about having problems from that. My mother's crappy Grand Am had the tranny fluid changed, and the tranny blew while climbing a small hill a few weeks after that.

If this problem happens again I'll take it right in and ask what the he** they did to my car! Sheesh, I've only owned it a month now...
