coilover install help

i just got the ksports installed and was wondering what do i use to to connect the endlinks to the struts since the ksports dont have a mounting brackets welded to it like on regular struts. in the box was six brackets to mount the brake lines. am i suppose to bend those to make it work? or am i missing some parts?? help plz

Uhhh, that's kinda messed up.

My JICs, or any other coilover for this application for that matter, has to have that extra mounting point already attached

Care to take a picture of what it looks like right now?

Do NOT bend those brackets for the brake line, they will not hold it for even 1 corner. The D2s I have already had the endlinks mounting point and they are a piece of thick metal.

You need to get the silver mount, that is shown on the coilover on the right.

uh oh...that's not good...sounds like you probably picked up a set of coilovers for made for the gen3 camry, which has welded mounts only for the rear endlinks since there are no front endlinks on the gen3

I'd measure it out and then take it to somebody who can weld and just weld a mount on the struts

hmm that makes no sense then cuz i dont hav mounts for the rears either. i have no where to mount the front or the back. ill have to call up the shop i ordered them from to see if i can get some ordered or something. cuz my endlinks are just hanging now as we speak. i also checked the box and it says 97-01 camry on them.

They provide a bracket for the brake lines and you CAN bend it:

• On MacPherson strut designed suspension systems, the brake line bracket can be fixed to the upper or lower strut mounting bolt, between the nut and the lower strut mount
• On shock (ie. Double Wishbone) front and rear suspensions, the brake line bracket can be either bolted to a nearby suspension piece that moves with the direction of suspension travel, or fixed to the shock’s lower mount with a secure, metal clamp
• Use the supplied rubber O-Rings and attach them to the brake line
• Attach the O-Ring to brake line bracket
• The brake line bracket may be bent or adjusted to accommodate angles or positions required to attach the brake line safely and securely
• Turn the wheels to their full range of motion to determine if the brake lines are in the right position
• Professional installation is REQUIRED

I don't see anything about a drop link connection in the instructions. It should be on the strut itself.

Drop link and brake mountings on K Sports. The drop link tab MUST be welded on the shock body..you can't see it here...I'll post another pic I found that shows it. The brake line tab that was provided in your kit is shown on the bottom. Yes, you can bend it as shown here.



Here is another pic showing welded sway bar tab above. Not sure if this is a K Sport though. It looks like you also have a brake line tab welded here lower down..not sure. But as you can see, the drop link tab MUST be welded on due to forces of the sway bar.

yeah i hav nothing like that welded to the strut at all. it has no place to connect the endlinks at all like the one in the picture.

I know you can bend it for the brake lines, but what I meant was you cant bend them to use as endlink connectors... Didnt explain myself very well with my previous post.

does anyone have any pics of the bracket for the endlinks on the ksports or d2 on there car?? If not could u please take a picture of if so i can email it to the shop? the shop i called isnt sure which bracket im talking about cuz they never did a camry or solara install before.

that shop is BS ....you should have been given the proper application that ksports has for you car! I know d2 does. Just email them the pics I sent you on the Mazda...they'll get the idea. If you want those, you'll need to weld on a bracket. I would send them back for a refund and either order what I posted here (under group buy for coil overs) which is NOT part of the group buy (but close in price Gen 4 Camry/99-2001 Solara)..or go with the group buy for a little less.

The newer model c/o's from ksport have a "floating" sway bar mount on the shock body in which you can adjust the preload on the sway bar. The mounts can be bought separately from ksport and may easily solve your problem.

thanks alot akora that is the exact picture that i needed so the shop can order the parts. if u dont mind me asking how much did u get them for because i need a set for the front and the rears.
