... sigh. not way i would prefer to start my friday.

My route to work involves a very narrow windy road for about five miles. We're talkin one lane in either direction, a hillside on one side and a guard rail on the other. I was on the side with the guard rail this morning going into work, a bee flew into my car, and landed on top of my dash, right on top of my gauge cluster actually. SO, trying to avoid being stung, I quickly swiped the bee out of my driver window. While doing so, the road changed about 12 degree's to the left, only a slight turn, I was still paying enough attention, and turned the wheel, BUT i didn't see the pothole, on the right side which effectively pulled my car off the road to the right, and into the guard rail....

I corrected in time before any SERIOUS damage was done, but I'm left with a nice pin-stripe down the side of my car, from about halfway through the front fender to the rear quarter panel... the GOOD news, is that the majority of it I can buff out after work, but it did manage to scrape the paint off down to the metal in about 3 places, the largest of which is a little bigger than a quarter.

Sometimes I really feel like a black cloud follows me around in that car, I even said that in a post earlier this week. :morning:

f*ck.

Really sorry to hear about your encounter with a bee. They cause more problems than one can imagine for the driver and the car. Probably the best thing to do is to buff out the entire area and see whats left that may need professional help. It may be necessary to do a larger area than the very small spot you identified. Automobile dealers (if you have any left in your area) usually have someone like Aerocolor fix small areas on cars they will resell on their lot and may be cheaper than a body shop. Good Luck.

I never have my windows down regardless of the time or weather. I always have the A/C on to compensate. I hate road noise and the crap that comes in open windows. It also very easy to clean the inside of the car.

Had a really good friend who got into a bad accident caused by a bee flying into his car. Being an old guy I would rather be comfortable in my car than have the wind blowing in my hair and smell of fresh cut alfalfa. Don't like convertables either.
Without ammunition, the USAF would be just another very expensive flying club.

Sorry about the damage. Although they serve a useful purpose, I hate bees! I even boycott Honey Nut Cheerios!

that sounds pretty bad man. sorry to hear it. the other day i was actually driving anddddd me and my friend are jamming out driving threw the city. im doing about 40 and go around a curve and out of no where a big ol pot hole was waiting for me and to top it off it had loose rocks in it. i seemed to hit it just right and a rock that was like 4 inches long kicked up and dented and took the paint right off the bottom of the door in about a 6 inch section. now im left with bare metal and a flippin dent :(

1 - sorry to hear about the misfortune
2 - hope it'll all buff out
3 - be sure to find out if there's any frame damage (hopefully not, sounds like you're ok)
4 - it coulda been a lot worse.

at least it's cosmetic and not something that would make the car mechanically unsound.

As long as u ok bro, u can fix the damage.

I tell u this story, i think it worst than bee thing, not too long ago me n my friend went fishing while we were both on Freeway with 70 miles about 110km/h, it was morning and this dam Trucker threw a full cup of Coffee right to the front dash-glass where we wipe windsield, lucky that my friend was very calm guy, he immediately turned on Windsield n wiped off the coffee.

Honestly if someone else was driving, maybe no Randy on Solaraguy, guess what ? we did the samething to that truck, we speeded up and the Extra large coffee to the truck and that Trucker pulled over Emergency lane n stopped.

Thats why calm is the safest lesson when driving, ill look for that Bee and revenge for u hehehe :) j/k, dont worry ur car will be fixed, ur life is more important.

Going off topic a little and I hope its ok. For those of you that don't use your A/C remember that the refrigerant 134a also keeps the seal lubricated so that they don't dry out and start leaking. Its good to run the A/C for about 5 minutes every 10 days or so. Of course my A/C seals NEVER dry out.

I love the A/C also, Campfire9, so thanks for the information. It makes for a more controlled environment and a quieter driving experience. When I first got my Solara I thought the A/C was suppose to run all the time because the A/C light was always on when I selected the AUTO function. I reasoned that it must have been designed to not only cool the air but also to condition the air no matter which temp setting I chose. I later learned that the A/C could be turned off separately from the fan. My tinted windows also help keep the car cool, and I find that a cool driver is less likely to have road rage. :D By the way, I think bees are cool, but I don't let them fly into my car. Jimmm
