Heh already leavin another post. Really not too great with cars... Love learnin tho! I'm looking for a good set of rims for this solara (pearl white) i know what look i want... but have no clue what brands are good. lookin for a 5 spoke rim... either black polish with chrome lip, or hyper black or gunmetal with the polished lip. help with what brands i should hit up? Also i was lookin through best buy and what not just lookin at decks. I currently have a single DIN aftermarket Pioneer deck installed... But it has that second half of empty space below the deck. So i did a quick look and the deck fitment is doube DIN... However when i put in my car model n stuff to the best buy website, it says that all the double DIN DVD players and decks WON'T fit my car... Is this just incorrect info or am i missing something? :-?

There shouldn't be any issues, theres a cavernous amount of space... and sharp objects to cut yourself on, behind the dash in the solara. lets see pictures of what you have so far. Audio knowledge is pretty abundant here. I built my system last summer, and search for posts from Prodigy - hes an audio guru as well (and a damn good one). As far as simple rims go, if you're wallet is hurting like mine is atm, check out ASA's on tirerack. They're not extremely light or anything, but I've had a set for a year and a half, hit plenty of pot-holes and haven't had one bend on me yet!

oh! - and Welcome to SG :D

Thanks for the tip on the rims.... Okay, so here is the what i currently have. No Amp, No Sub lol... My H/U is a Pioneer DEH-P80MP which in my opinion is an outstanding deck. More wattage then any deck i've seen (RMS @ 28-33 depending on what site you look at... 60W max x4) Here is picture and a link for the specifications of the deck.

Also i just got a pair of Alpine Type S Component speakers for the front. I'm thinking of leaving the stock JBL's 6x9's in the back. They have pretty good low end bass and the front speakers take good care of the tight bass. I'm not looking to shatter windows here lol... But a good upgraded pair of 6x9's that handle bass well would be a plus. I'll post a couple pix the deck installed in my car tonight, it's in the shop getting detailing and maintenance done as i type.

replacing the rear deck speakers is a PIA, from what i hear.

if you're gonna do it, make sure to do it right the first time (put the speakers in the rear deck that will stay there, and not blow).

front speakers should be reasonably easy to replace.

double-din should fit, but the BB computers might be confused. i'd goto crutchfield.com and check out their stereo fit application there.....they should be more accurate/up to date.

Im an alpine slut, but that is a good headunit for sure. The rear deck is a pain just because you have to pull out the rear interior - I've done it so many times now that I could probably do it blindfolded in under 20 minutes. The first time you do it, it'll probably take about 25-30 min (eyes open ;) )

The doors aren't much easier in my opinion, but i dont think any of it is particularly hard. the stock speakers are 2 ohms, i would look for some nice look for 4 ohm speakers if you're planning on upgrading. How much are you looking to spend on a system? And btw, crutchfield is a great resource. I would find something that you want on there and hunt around with google to find better pricing (if its out there). I build my system last summer for about $2500, but i already had my headunit and amp. The gist of it is in my sig, if you want more details check my old posts, I did a write up on it back then

^^^ what he said. I also have an all Alpine set up, except for my h/u. I agree, look up on crutchfield, then try to find it on woofersetc.com or sonicelectronix.com. I can personally vouch for woofersetc. I spent about a G with them and never had a problem, shipped quickly too.

yeah two type-r's will definitely make your heart skip a beat (literally if you're not careful). My friend had 2 r 10's in his integra in highschool, no crap he ruptured a lung because of the pressure it created - had to get surgery, hes fine now haha, but he got rid of the subs

ha love the thread we got goin here...
Anyway, so alpine components in the front, i actually just found out that the previous owner placed some higher end infinity 6x9's in the back (note: all i ever here is that infinity is only know for their high end sound, crisp clean highs... w/ minimal bass. But i must say that sound imaging and the positioning of the speakers plays a big part becuase these 6x9's hit the deep end bass very well i must say.) So with the alpine components in front, and infiniti's in back, I have my pioneer deck... Should i honestly add anything else considering im NOT really looking to shake the street or anything lol...?
