Water on driver side floor. LOTS OF WATER!

Water on driver side floor. LOTS OF WATER!

Postby GreenSolara01 » Mon May 18, 2009 7:42 pm

My rear driver side is full of water. It must be at least a gallon. I have vacummed it out twice. and it keeps coming back. I took out the carpet and removed the sound deadning mats ( wool blanket looking things under carpet). I remover the three drain plugs I could find in the floor board. Last I checked it was almost dry. Pads and carpet still drying in garage.

Has any one had this problem before?
(its just water not coolant, and not on the passenger side)

do u have a moonroof???

yes or no...

if you do pull out your headliner, and side panel on that side.. there is a rubber hose going from there to your trunk.. that more than likely is a cause...

if not checkthe rubber seal around your door.

finally pull out your back seat and check your rear window seals to make sure they are not leaking....

best way is to sit in the car, have a friend with a hose douse the car to help locate the problem... pull off your rear panels either way and back seat to help find the problem

check your window seal around the door.. esp at the top of the window.. im starting to think its that if its the whole drivers side.. sounds like your window is not sealing properly when rolled up..

take a hose and sit in your car.. have your friend DOUSE it as in not the sprayer just the hose with no nozzle on the end... all around the door on that side.. it will help you locate the exact cause

weird... long shot, but since none of the above seem to be the probem, maybe the rear floor air duct? :-?

hmm.. i have an issue with water collecting in my driver side wheel well in the trunk. wasn't until after I had body work done from my hit and run incident a year and a half ago... I wonder if they f*cked with the hose back there... haha I kinda hope so because I've been searching for the source since I first noticed it a month after the work was done, no water marks anywhere, no trace of where it might be coming from, and i DO have a sunroof..

good pics guys!!

as of today with a little damp-rid, car is almost dry. I have tryed to use a hose to check the seals. I can't seem to recreate it.

I think it might have been an under body wash that might have poped one of the drain plugs up and alot of water w/it.

I had the exact same problem in an old BMW and it was the sunroof drain hoses. Good luck sorting it out!

The drain tube I mentioned earlier was found at all four corners of the sunroof (remember, this is for an old BMW, not a Solara - I imagine they're the same, but I've never checked the Solara out). In my case a few of them got clogged up with leaves and dirt and junk, so they had to be cleaned out. Before I cleaned them out the floor of the car would get flooded whenever it rained.

I'm still pretty sure its the ac drain tube. most cars will pool a little water, whil useing the AC, myy car dose not. However, my car does fill up with water while my ac is on.

Any one have an idea of where this tube might be?
