Custom TRD hood questions/advice/help...

actually...one thing i have seen before was a weather stripping used to go around windows. its flexible to the point that the glass could be removed but it held tight enough to keep it from falling out. i saw it on an old GTO. i suppose youd jsut have to figure out a way to adhear that perminantly.

how thick is the hood? Maybe you can tap a few holes into it and screw the plastics to it.

you could always get the magnetic things they use to for company names on the side of trucks and cut to size and paint them. ez on ez off here is a link of what i am talking about seems to be the easiest fix http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Custom-Vehicle-Do ... dZViewItem

That thought ran through my head but the hood is not thick enough. The screw would come out the other end.

I'm not even sure how these things work. can you pls explain? I think I've had too much to drink tonight and I am probably having brain farts...lol :drinking:

My biggest concern is probably just being able to take off whatever I decide to cover the openings. The magnetic strips like you said D-MONEY might work but are they strong enough to hold everything in place?

Sometimes I wonder why the hell I even cut the damn holes in the first place....

OH YEAH!!!!!! Cuz it looks BAD ASS!!!!

they are just magnetic sheets you can slap on when it rains and take off when it stops im sure you have seen a magnetic business card from a food joint its like that only bigger

That actually might work then...I'll have to look into it. otherwise I'm just gonna have to go a more permanent route and epoxy the biatch. lol

if you dont want to cover it with a magnetic sheet there is also the stuff they make those decals that stick to glass out of but i think the magnetic sheets would be the way to go

any idea how strong they are? I mean, I dont want the mesh or the lexan sheets sliding during hard braking or cornering. Do you think it will hold it FIRMLY in place??

the more important question...how well to they hold up to heating and cooling. thoes conditions are bad for magnets and can cause them to loose their magnetism.

i was thinking the magnetic sheets instead of lexan you just slap em on over the holes

^ actually, not a bad idea. who cares how it looks in the rain anyways

. for added strength just get one long sheet and put it all the way across the hood covering up all the holes at once. i ddi this with a CAI. in heavy rain, raod spray would hit the filter that was right behind a mesh screen. i jsut got a piece of magnet sheet and cut it to fit. it would adhear to the mesh and block the water till i took it off.

what is your main concern ? having water on your engine ? or you have a short ram intake and dont want water to go in it ?
