good luck with everything , but the tow truck dude should have known about the over ride button, but then agian their a bunch of idiots that do that job that can care less about your car b.c the tow truck comp isnt responsible for damages.

i don't think the shift lock override would have solved teh bumper problem....the tow truck guys were just stupid, and a little button isn't gonna fix stupidity.

it was still being lifted from the front. the shift lock override would have helped with them pulling the car out of the parking spot so that the tranny wasn't stressed.

sorry to hear about your misfortune...hope you get it all worked out.

oh yeah I called them today and went nuts. I'm stopping by their store tomorrow to give them a good holler. Anyways I just came back from my car, I towed my car to my house from the dealer. So I bought the ignition etc, and now to my not surprise my ignition wont even turn to ACC! The guys at northtown totally messed up my crap I know for a fact they did. I dont know what to do, gen 1 solaras instructions where pretty dead on and I even see the little pin thing that supposed to release the ignition but I dont think I cant press it until the ignition is on ACC!!

the new problem****

How do I get the ignition out without having the key on ACC? Because now after the dealership got done with it wont even turn to ACC. Is there another way to do it?

PS: My wheel is locked too, how do I unlock it without access to the ignition? Maybe thats why the key wont turn at all is because the steering wheel is locked lol?

^^Had the same problem with my ignition cylinder on my camry.

Here's a quote from my post over in TN. The directions are the same. Spray some WD40 in and around the key. Use a hammer and hit the key towards the cylinder. Don't be afraid to apply force because I had to when this happened to me (key didn't turn to acc).

Use GRAPHITE instead of wd40 on locks to lubricate. They should have them at autozone, advance auto parts, home depot, lowes....etc.

For the trunk problem, spray some wd40 to clean up the inside of the lock, then slide the key IN and OUT for a few times, then trying turning. If thats a still a no go, insert the key, and hit the key towards the lock (don't use alot of force). Try turning now, remember to spray wd40.

Once it turns, remember to use graphite to lube it, it last much longer.....you should use it on all your locks, I do.

Source: I've had a lot of key/lock problems in the past and talked to several locksmiths.

Remember, just use wd40 to assist you in turning/taking out the key since it's not a good lubricate compared to graphite for locks. The original thread is at http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showt ... ?p=2127768 .

*edit*
And since your steering wheel is locked, you probably have to hit the key few times to loosen it then turn the key while you turn the steering wheel.

I dont know how to explain it because I know when there is no battery I know that sound but this is like a regular start up sound that just continues. It doesnt click or anything its a smooth sound, infact it the normal sound but it just doesnt turn on :( And I can hold it like that for a minute or so If I really need to.
could it be the battery? Because my subs and everything work now just fine, so probably not the battery?

PS: The car has never done this to me, I'm just scared that the crazy tow truck driver messed up my car..

when you turn the key to the on position do your dash lights light up? have you put gas in yet? if your dash lights dont light up like they should then there is either a blown fuse or the contact is damaged in the ignition. ive had both happen on other cars.i would check the fuses anyway after having a problem like that i.

When I try actually starting my car everything (my radio and AC) turns off. Like it would be fine before I try starting my car but when I attempt to start it everything shuts off while my car is trying to start and when I stop turning the key everything turns back on again.

I put a gallon of gas in the car, I dunno if the dealership drained my remaining gas I had in it

Seems like it is your bat. Just take it to the local tire shop or where you bought it and get it fully charged. If jumping your car doesn't work. Hopefully this is the end to your horrible experience.
