Yokohama - Michelin - Bridgestone ? ? ?

Looking to replace OE tires on 06 SLE Conv. Only got 26K out or them. I park it in the winter, so snow is not a problem.

Looking for low noise and great traction. Have TRD Rear Sway installed, so I can tolerate a little rough ride.

After reading the reviews on TireRack, I have narrowed my list to the following: Looking for comments:

Yokohama S Drive

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

Bridgestone Turanza Serenity

don't bother with the serenities if you're looking to go bridgestone. get something potenza. It may be a bit noisier, but the traction is really quite nice.

my suggestions
potenza g019 grid for something mid-high range
or
pole position something or others. just remember, pole position=high end.

I have an 06 SLE Conv too, and just switched from the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position to the Yokohama S.drive. My setup has the RSB, FSTB, and Tein Super Street coilovers, so I like a tire that sticks. I LOVED the Bridgestones for traction, wet and dry. If you check the Tire Rack reviews, you'll see good marks. BUT, it won't get you much more treadwear than what you got on your OE tires. I would guess that the Turanza Serenity is in the same class as the RE960AS, but it looks to be set up more as a passenger tire than a sports tire.

I bought the S.drive knowing the traction would not be as good as the RE960AS, and the Tire Rack review isn't as good either, but the Road & Track review said that it's really a pretty good tire with pretty good traction - an upgrade from most sports car OE tires, and should have fairly long treadwear. I like the tires so far, but have only had them for one week.

BTW- Be sure to stick with the OE size on the S.drive. It's a WIDE tire - wider than most with the same published size. But if you go with the Bridgestone (Potenza) and still have stock wheels, you can 'up' the size to the 235/50R17 and it will fit fine and you'll still keep the same diameter.

i don't like goodyears tires that much. I have some dunlop direzzas and they have never been able to perfectly in balance and they requires lots of rotations (a part of goodyear). Yokohama tires usually do really well on toyotas as do bridgestones (bridgestones have a shorter life). I would also look into bfgoodrich (maybe gforce sports and they are a part of michelin)

If you started you research on TireRack... I wonder why you just won't finish your research there as well. I've ordered from that site before and there's a VAST amount of information on there. They have test results, test surveys, user reviews, etc... I'm sure from all that and then factor in how much you want to spend, i'm sure you can make an educated decision on what you want.

After reading up on some of these tires and from the post about the falken tires. I think maybe my next set of tires will be the Falken 452's!

On mine i have Michelin hydro edge. I don't know if those are stock tires or have been replaced before i got the car. I don't hear any kind of noise and traction is good.
