Oil change interval

Conventional oil only lasts 3k before its burnt

???????????????

Oil doesn't get "burnt" unless you run it above 240°, and it doesn't "wear out".
The black in the oil is absolutely harmless.
Do some research.

Harmless to engines maybe? Used oil proven to aid people in their quest to get some sort of cancer.

I change mine when the light comes on (every 5k miles I think) unless I just decide to do it early for some reason. My oil of choice is Castrol Syntec 5w30.

I change mine every 3k miles or 3 months, whichever comes first.

I fear for the Solara if you give it to your daughter when time comes. Even 15k oil changes go right past the feeble minds of some women. Oops, I forgot daddy!

I say that Castrol EDGE is a checkbook slasher/pocket picker. They lost respect from me after they went with the whole non-synthetic synthetic BS...even thought Castrol is highly recommended.

Either way, even 15k protection doesn't guarantee anything:

"We don’t think oil type plays much of a part in wear, but we bring this up to illustrate the point that buying expensive oil doesn’t necessarily mean you can run your oil longer."
