"Toyota" badge

I was wondering if it would chip/ peel any paint off if you take the "toyota" badge and the Toyota symbol off the trunk....?

When I took all the emblems off my trunk I used fishing string and “flossed” it behind the badge until I got all the way through. It didn’t take any paint off and shouldn’t at all. I washed what I could off and used a clay bar to get the remaining stuff off. This has been discussed many times. Hope this helps, if not there are probably 20+ of the same topics when you search.

^ Yup, you won't take any paint off. I just used Goo Gone to get the remaining stickey stuff off.

Hey Chrissy, what might help make the process a lil bit easier is to get this remover called goo-gone (or goo-off). I poured it around the emblem and let it soak for a good 10 minutes. it softened it up and i was easily able to take it off with dental floss afterwards. then, wash the car and wax it up, voila!

the paint behind the emblem may be a different color due to fading.

when i debadged my flame metallic red 1999, it was noticable where the emblems used to be.

i clay barred and waxed, which helped a little, but it's still visible if looking for it.

use goo-gone and fishing line/dental floss. there will be a little strip of adhesive left over after you pull off the emblems, but that extra adhesive can be 'rolled' off with your fingers.

and if you're gonna pull some of em off, you might as well debadge all of em (two on each side, three on the rear trunk)

I would suggest not using goo gone since that stuff can melt plastic. Take them off as suggested with fishing line and use something like a paint cleaner/meguirs scratchX or rubbing compund or a clay bar and then wax it shiny.

btw I like having the toyota emblem on the trunk just not the word toyota

no I meant it's strong stuff and can melt plastic not that the trunk is plastic. If it can melt certain plastics then I don't want it near my clearcoat or paint

but maybe that's just me

Lol. I just used a t-shirt soaked in warm water and pushed the adhesive around with my fingertips till I got it all rolled up and it came right off as well.
