Mine does that sometimes, I usually pull it back a few times and it retracts properly. Pull it all the way out and see if its twisted, if not then It might be caused from the sides of the belt getting "fuzzy" from normal wear.

Go to the sites below for help. Toyodiy.com for parts breakdown and part numbers and the other is gen 2 repair manual which should be about the same for all gens.

Hope this helps

Without ammunition, the USAF would be just another very expensive flying club.

Yah there's a tensioner on the main bolt, accessible after you pop open the plastic cover on the seatbelt attachment to the body.

JEEZ, I didn't even KNOW that you CAN adjust the tensioner-- you mean to tell me that instead of leaving my safety belt flopping out on the seat or manually tucking it back in, I could've turned a screw/bolt and have it RETRACT ITSELF :o ?? I thought that the retracting problem was either something that you either had to just deal with or buy replacements! Worst of all, I was convinced that it was because of a soda spill from a long time ago, and thought that it was the stickiness of the sugars binding the mechanism or even the fabric somewhere, but then again I wiped it off immediately and rinsed when I stopped.

THANKS!
