Week 3 With My New Baby

Looks amazing... Great job

The backseat will be some trouble...
The bottom of it can just be pulled out, its only held on with a clip or something.
For the tops of the back seats you need to take all the panels around the backseat to remove 4 bolts total. On SG go to the tutorials section and follow the “remove rear speaker deck” tutorial. That will clear all the panels and allow you access to the bolts.

I am not sure about the front seats but I am sure it is just a few bolts on each side holding it to the car.

Thanks, I'll have to look those directions up. I don't think the front will be fun since one of the seats is electronic. I don't think its going to be a huge help in just getting a smaller stickier crevice tool to work with in removing the hair between the seats (whatever's left). Maybe I can create some sort of tool off the supplies I already have. Hmmm.

I was a bit bummed to go out at noon and see that the car really didn't have that full body pearl effect. It just looked bright white. :( Of course, in comparison to the yellowish-white ugly Buick it was parked next to, it still looks nice. Maybe I just didn't have the right light angle. I'll try for those pictures when I get home tonight.

Thanks! :D Its coming along slowly but surely. I think this weekend I'll throw on some more paint sealant since it lasts a lot longer than wax. I think I'll also tackle the rust on the one wheel well since I have to do some rust touchup on my Subaru.

You know, I don't think I could be much happier than owning this vehicle right now. It may have its imperfections, but its got a lot of heart and even more importantly, its a Toyota! I was watching Top Gear's Alfa Romeo episode last night, and it reminded me just how amazing Toyotas are. They don't do weird things- they just run & run. I'm not sure if I've had much of a relaxing moment with my Saab or Subaru. I always worried about them breaking down and doing bad things, although it was my Toyota Celica who actually had the breakdown (due to poor maintenance, a hose blew up on the highway).

Sorry I haven't gotten more pictures up yet! The weather's been crappy all week, and the nasty winds we had earlier this week put dirt all over my car, so now its black & whtie. Bleh! I'll have to do a wash tomorrow and then I'll take some shots since it should be sunny all weekend.

I'm also going to tackle the headliner and in between the front seats to see how much more hair I can remove. That car still stinks when its all shut up. Once I feel comfortable that I did my best effort, I'll throw in the fogger and see what happens. I'll be pulling the new seat covers off to do that as well. I need pics of those too, to show you guys.

I ended up buying a pearl white mirror off eBay earlier this week, and it just arrived today! I am pretty darn excited. It has a couple of deep scuffs, but for $30 I don't think there's anything that I can't tackle with some blood, sweat & tears. 8) I'll take pictures, this transformation will also be interesting. But the mirror is in one piece, yay! No more wind noise! BTW, how hard are mirrors to install? Should I attempt this myself, or should I just have the mechanic do it for me?

I also got the missing trim cap for the mirror on the interior, except we can't get the darned thing to stay. Has anyone else removed that trim piece, or had it fall off? My other one appears to be hanging on for dear life as well. The mechanic suggested for me to epoxy glue it in. It looks like it should snap it, but it doesn't.

i dont know how you are with tools but i found it pretty easy to take out the two front seats when i first got my car there was coffee spilled in the spots i couldnt get to. so each seat has only 4 bolts to take out and two plugs to unplug. once you have those out you have access to the entire carpet and it makes cleaning A LOT easier
