Choking As in the engine severely hampered by the AC turning on? I have the same car in manual and when the AC turns on the car does hesitate a bit and feels slowed down.

Yea thats what im talking about. It has done that since i have had the car and i just really thought about it and wondered about it.I guess since it is only a I-4 it does not have a whole lot of hp and it does choke it down.

yes
the ac takes up hp
and since our cars are heavy as hell and the i4 already is low on power it happens
so when i need to accelerate fast i turn off the AC

You I-4 guys have headers, turbos, and other options to boost the power you lose from turning on the AC. Problem solved! :sweet:

It must be normal... I get this also, at idle, when my A/C button is depressed. I noticed the rpm at idle is slightly lower when it happens. It annoys me so much that if I use it, I turn it off at traffic lights then back on when I'm driving lol...

I'm surprised - that's what an IAC is for (rather than just an idle speed screw), so that the engine speed is whatever the ECM thinks it should be and doesn't vary with load.
Many years ago, Nissan had a separate solenoid that held the throttle open a bit more at idle, keyed to the same hot wire that turned the compressor on.

I guess the I4s were left out of the manufacturing loop? LOL

The 2AZ-FE engine has a chain, not timing belt. I hope that wasn't a sales tip.

^ It's a chain on the 2AZ-FE (i4). You must be looking at something else.
