RPM Gauge Not Working: Need HELP!

RPM Gauge Not Working: Need HELP!

Postby ArizonaEagle07 » Thu May 07, 2009 10:31 pm

About 30 minutes ago while driving back home, I hit a small pot hole in the road and a minute later my RPM Needle just stopped working. I have know idea how to trouble shoot this. All my other gauges seem to be working fine, but that just stopped.

I dont know if this is due to electrical failure, some sort of sensor, fuse, or something wrong with the gauge cluster.
BTW: I do have a CEL light and as far as I know its for my rear bank O2 sensor. This is an 2000 Auto Solara SLE

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
I just hope this isnt a sign for worse things to come!

Pull the gauges out take off the cover and see whats up with the needle. and maybe hopefully removing the cables may do the trick. Lose Cable ? just a thought

Yea I tried that, the needle is free moving and isnt binding anywhere. All wires look good no chaffing.

When it stopped working did it drop down to zero or did it stay where it last was? Do any of the lights behind the gauge work?

Yes it dropped down to Zero and stayed there, as for the lights im pretty sure they all work. MY CEL and TRAC OFF have always been on since I reset the ECU I just have my TRAC OFF light on and no CEL.

I have know idea whats going on!

I'm going to assume that when you hit the bump it loosened the connection. It probably just needs to be pushed back in.
