alright so i need help on a problem i got on my car last night.
I started the car and it started to idle rough, the motor was shaking a bit and the intake was breathing on its own. I brought it to school and plugged in the diagnostic reader and it said that all the cylinders except for number four were misfiring. The instructor told me that it could be a vacum leak but i have not found it yet. Then i decided to hit up my neighbor since hes done a lot of work on my car in the past and he mentioned it could be a coil or a spark plug, but my question is if this has happend to anyone before and if you guys have any tips to help me out with this problem.
i forgot to add that this morning the check engine light started to flash for a few seconds and went away, the weird thing is that ive always had my CEL because i need a new o2 sensor, but the CEL stays on and then its truns off. Thats what i thought was the weirdest thing
so if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it.
Thanks guys

if they are ALL misfiring (even except for one) then it's either a vacuum leak, ecu, or ignitor

but chances are that it's a vacuum leak. find it with carb /throttlebody cleaner

^i tried that and couldnt find anything. Ive also heard of people that put smoke through the intake manifold and then wherever the leak is thats where the smoke comes out. But i have no clue on where to go where they can do that.

get your instructor to help you...sometimes vacuum leaks can be really hard to find,...you have to spray the cleaner into every nook and cranny of the engine components

its not vacumm leak, when the check engine light flashes, its electrical.. here's is what you do, i do this too most car's i work on when this happends, it hasn't failed me once...here's is what you do, disconnect one spark plug wire, if you don't see or hear a change in idle then the spark plug wire is bad, now when it does start to idle rough or in your case more, then you have a good spark plug wire, keep doing this to each spark plug wire and make sure you hear a click click sound when your disconnect the wire, if you do theres spark being send. let me know what happens after you have done this

Our 4 cyl convertible does the same thing. When warm it will idle low and rough while in gear sitting at a light. I've changed the plugs & wires and cleaned out the throttle body and it helped a bit. It's very annoying and wish I knew what to do next. Any ideas? Tim
