I think 45R18 would also be okay.
When i have to buy new rims i would go for 17 inch, because every big bump in the road could kill the rim.
True, my workmate got his rim screwed cause of the big whole on Freeway with his 100k/m per hour speed, his car is Acura EL with P215/35/17.
We just had a conversation about Rim and Tire, he said he using rim 17 cause his Stock rim is 15, he experienced with Auto mod for 20 years he was a Street Racer before but he quit that racing life style for almost 10 years.
He adviced me that if ur stock rim is 16 for example, you can go with 18 aftermarket rim, it will be fine just 2 sizes higher than stock one, no more than 2 cause ur rim will screw faster, i ask him about fender rolls, he says it doesnt matter.
So i think Solara is perpect with P225/40/18 cause stock is P205/60/16
Your Camry gen 4 rim is 15 stock, so yes you should go with 17 aftermarket to avoide big bumbs on the road, dont oversize cause u'll regret it.
