Question about Rim and Tire for 2001

Postby RandySolara » Sat Apr 25, 2009 6:03 pm

Hi guys again, i want to get summer rims and tires but i dont know what Size of rim or tire to fit my Solara 2001, my current orginal wheels are

P205/60/R16 so that Rim = 16 and Tire 60

I want a 19 Rim and Tire 50 are they fit with 2001 model ?
If not then can i put 18 Rim Tire 55 ?

Some tireshop guys say if i put 19 rim or bigger, it will touch the strut ? he said cause if you drive fast or run over the bump somthin like that....

So what size is the best size to use ? rim 18 tire 55 or rim 19 tire 50 ? i like the tire NOT too Thin and NOT too Thick.

ive been driven Solara for a long time with original parts/wheels since i got married, now my Child is big so im free to SuitUp my car ;) heehe

Thanks so much for the advice guys ;)

How many do they need to sell to recoup $200 million?

Postby 99sle » Sat Apr 25, 2009 11:17 pm

Clearly, one of the most important products in its history, Cooper spent some $200 million to develop the new rubber.

http://www.motortrend.com/features/112_ ... index.html

This tire is about 1/2 the price as a michelin. They claim it is an 80k tire. I did alot of research before we got these in the 2056016s for my wifes car. You dont need 50s, they will wear out quicker.

They are quiet, non directional, so you can rotate them all around. Believe me, we had some cheap falken directional 512s and they were toast after 20k.

http://www.treadepot.com/tire/11123

These t rated are $77 and the h rated are $80. Pay the extra $3 and get the h rated.

The CS4 is available in two tread designs, a T-rated four-rib and the H- and V-rated five-rib. The T-rated tire features one large center aqua channel, while the H- and V-rated variants have two, one on either side of the center rib. Combined with the tire's silica tread compound, the design makes for strong wet handling and hydroplaning resistance, Cooper claims.

$40 rebate on a set of 4.

Hope this helps. Wish I could get them for my corvette, but I will get them for my 91 lincoln mark vii when its time.

BTW, I got these for $70 something for the h rated in 2007 I think thru my buddys shop with no markup, no shipping and no tax. So it was nearly 1/2 the price of a comp michelin. That site has pretty good prices for tires if you dont have a local connection.

It depends if you're lowered or not. You also didn't mention what offset you were looking at. I currently have an 18x8 rim with a 40 series tire and it rubs when I go over big bumps. My offest is 40.
I'm also lowered on TRD springs, hence my slight rubbing issue.

Thanks, 99sle, for the information on Cooper Tires. When I'm ready to re-tire, I'll give them a closer look. Jimmm
