Aftermarket Radiator/Cooling Fans

Aftermarket Radiator/Cooling Fans

Postby Mr_Chunkz » Tue Apr 21, 2009 3:19 am

Hey guys
I know a couple of members on here have gotten or at least looked into getting an aftermarket radiator. I know some members also ran Koyo Racing's radiator as well. ( Yet on Koyo's website it lists no Solara/Camry application )

This led me to want to get an aftermarket aluminum radiator while my car is apart getting the setup put in

I want this for a couple of reasons
1- Greg pointed out to me that my Solara's radiator core is shockingly thinner than his Camry's radiator core. This troubled me, as I am running the TRD 160 Thermo and my scanner's live data stream consistently reading out 190-200*F. Perhaps an aftermarket radiator with a larger core would help resolve the issue.

Also, with the modifications I've had planned, saving space under the hood will be become necessary. So I am looking into getting some lower profile cooling fans for my car. I know a couple of members have gotten these as well.

My question is
When looking at cooling fans and radiators online, I found practically no one that makes applications for solara/camry. Which application could be used as a substitute? Or am I simply S.O.L.

Thanks in advance.

for the rad...I'm not sure what a good aftermarket alternative would be, but pretty much, as long as you can find a rad that has the inlet and outlet at approximately the same locations as our stock one, then the mounts can be modified to hold it and you can use it.

as for the fan, there are no model specific fans, but you can make any universal fan work, just take a look at the specs and if you have the money, pick up two fans

There you go Tracy. If I was an ass, I'd schwoop them from Milton right now. Luckily for you, I'm broke as screw until Friday.

SO, no specifics on the radiator? Is the radiator the same for the 2AZ-FE and the 1MZ? If not, why not get the Camry's since its thicker?

I did briefly think about that
But Id really like something with higher cooling capabilities than anything stock. With my new setup, I wouldnt be suprised if I ran my car too hot after a few runs on the track.
