New brake setup **Update**

New brake setup **Update**

Everyone knows that "ASG14" has researched about twin piston calipers on the Gen 1 Solara's.
Well i went to a salvage yard a couple of weeks ago, and found a black 1996 ES300 wit slight front end damage, i examined the whole car, and no one had even touched it!!!!! :o
So i got to work, and got the twin piston calipers off wit the brackets and the brake hoses, and brake pad clips.

Calipers and the brackets.

Calipers and the pistons taken out.

As of last week when i was at the salvage yard, i noticed the rear brakes were still on the car, i had an image of my rotors and calipers in my head, and visualized if the ES300 rear calipers would work, but i remember readin' on here that the rear rotors were bigger, and i was worried about that.
Well i researched and cross referenced the Gen 1 Solara and the 1996 ES300 rear rotors, and they had the same part number, so that lead my assumptions to believe that the rotors are the same size, just the calipers are bigger on the ES300.

Sometime soon i'll be goin' back and hopefully no one has stripped the rear brakes off. **crosses fingers**

I'll be powder coatin' the brakes mirror red aka Brembo BBK red.
New front rotors will be PowerSlot Cryo'ed slotted rotors. [Frustrated wit the wait for the DBA 4000 Series rotors i orderd in Dec 2008]
Brake pads for the front will be Hawk HPS, and the rear will be the Duralast gold, since my rear rotors are still good.

Also motor wise no one even touched the 1MZFE on the ES300 also.
As of right now i got the intake manifold off, T/B. front valve cover off.
The parts are sittin' in a Gen 4 Camrys' trunk.
The place wanted to rip me off and charge me 2 prices for the upper and lower intake manifold. :x
My plan was to do a 3MZ / 1MZ hybrid, but since then i've changed my mind.
Again soon when i go back to the salvage yard again, i'll be pullin' the T/B, fuel rail [the hose from the fuel filter to the fuel rail looks bigger], and the rear ES300 calipers and brackets.
I'll update this thread when i get the parts off.

Update for the twin piston for the front of the Solara.

Well i just finished installin' the rotors, calipers, and SS brake lines last night, well more like this mornin'.
Thanks to my friend for all his help installin' my new brake hard line on the passenger side.

This came in on Friday:

What could it be??

Hawk HPS Street brake pads.

I decided not to powder coat the calipers Mirror Red......

Not really, just had the tape to protect it while my friend was sandin' the part where the banjo bolted to.

I didn't get any pictures of the passenger side, cause the other half of the garage has my parents junk shite....

Awesome sleeper! I can't wait to see these guys installed! Are you rebuilding these calipers? I have to pull mine off and paint them, I didn't put anything on them when I installed them and they are now rusted to hell. I suppose I'm going to paint mine red as well. I'm also going to use some caliper paint on the rotors to hide all the rust around the hub part.

Rear or front? The fronts are all the same, the rears are diff.

The Gen 1 Sol, Gen 3/4 camry Sedan and Coupe have the same OEM part # for rear rotors. The 92-96 ES300 and Gen 3 Wagon have the same rear rotor part #.

Its a great brake upgrade, really is. I still have to paint mine and my rotor hubs as well, I'll add some pics up when I do. By the way, let us know how those pads are on dust. I almost regret putting the greenstuff in mine, because of the dust alone.....keyword....*almost* :evilbat:

I had taken off a Gen 3 rear caliper today, but on one of the calipers i broke one bolt in the slidin' part.....
I'll do that.
