The nice weather is rolling around and like many others I want to buy new rims for my Solara. Before I do, I'm contemplating on painting my 16" SLE rims either black, gray, or silver. Which color would match my silver Solara best? I'm up to hear opinions and ideas, even if they're far from what I mentioned.

Although painting your rims would definatly be cheaper, it wouldnt hold up as well. Although I've heard duplicolor's line of wheel paint is suposed to pretty durable, IF clearcoated over. Go with gunmetal if you do paint them.

You're right, it probably won't hold up as well but my SLE rims are already starting to chip on their own so might as well beat them to the punh with a color modification.

Gunmetal is always a good choice. I'm planning on using Dupli-color spray cans. I thought about restoring the wheels but didnt know what color to spray the wheels.

Any more input on the wheels? Recommendations?

i remember someone with a dark blue lara went with a dark gun metal grey. It looked pretty good. I can't remember his name though. Eventually i'll be getting another set of wheels and keep these for the winter. The last owner got these chromed and they're peeling

I'm even thinking about bronze. What do you guys think about a light bronze SLE rims on a silver Solara?

bronze only goes with certain colors. Silver isn't one of them. With a silver car, you're kinda limited to silver, gun metal, black, or chrome

IMO bronze only looks good on white cars.
I dont even like bronze, but on a white car it looks nice. 8)

^Funny thing is, Damon's GramLights were Gold, not Bronze. His Enkeis were the wheels that were Bronze.

I recently saw a silver G35 with gold rims and it looked pretty good but like many said, gunmetal is probably what i'm going to for. Does anyone know how to restore the original alloy finish?

My 16" have been repaint after the little accident last year. They are kind of silver, look like a lot like before, but looks brand new! Ive put dunlop signature tires on it saturday and I like it. I was looking for new wheels but it's expensive to put on my 10 yrs old car. :o
