My wife's 1999 v6 Solara with 5 speed, actually weighs less than a new VW Golf. Check it out.

I've always used the 3230 lb number, but I admit I haven't ever verified this, which is weird since I weigh everything.

And yes, the scales at a metal recycler (and UPS by the bye) are required by law to be calibrated on a regular basis. Doesn't mean it's right, but it probably is.

Given that, any car that is weighted in such centers should weight NO MORE than displayed weight, since it is not good for them to overpay for recycled material.

DON'T APOLOGIZE FOR THE CAPS, MY MAN. I LOVE 'EM. WHEN YOUR EYES GET AS OLD AS I MINE, YOU MIGHT APPRECIATE THEM TOO. I KNOW THAT SOME SAY IT MEANS YOU ARE SHOUTING, BUT WHEN YOU GET AS OLD AS I AM, YOU MIGHT APPRECIATE THAT TOO. (lol)

ANYWAY.....i don't know how much my car weighs, but the doors are HEAVY, and I LOVE 'EM. It only takes a slight of hand to close them and the THUNKING, DEEP, BASS sound they make ReSoNaTe JOYFULLY to my EARS! They make the whole car seem so MUSCULAR and POWERFUL. :D

I haven't taken my car to a recycle yard to get it weight, just don't know of any that does let you. Also driving a car there would probably put like 4 nails in the tires, so much debris at those places.

It's just interesting to see what the actual weight of our cars and see if manufacture is underweighting the actuality. It's also good to know what our car weight to begin with and after modifications, how much are we reducing by? Lighter rims, reducing cargo, and etc...Reducing the weight we can improve our power to weight ratio.
