Back on the road soon!

Back on the road soon!

Well I will be getting the ol’ Solara back on the road shortly. I just bought a new rack and pinion system, so that should be arriving with in the next week or so, and I will be cleaning out the ever living crap out of my EGR to see if I can get the CEL cleared. Other thought I have with that is, I am going to see if I don’t have a vacuum line in the wrong spot, which could be causing, the 2 conflicting codes, insufficient ERG flow, and not enough EGR flow. The guy at Toyota said it could be something just that simple. Problem I run into with that is my car now is 3 months late for tags, and I have to drive at least 100 miles to reset the computer in order for them to be able to do my emissions.

Oh well, I’ll tackle 1 battle at a time. 1st New Rack and Pinion.

I hate emission and safety inspections :x

That's cool you're getting the Solara back and running.

The EGR system is a pain in the ass though, I had an EGR problem with my Gen1 Solara at 55,000 miles. Replaced the EGR valve and got the system cleaned out and everything was cool. At 70,000 miles I get the CEL again for an EGR problem, this time it was the EGR Solenoid, after replacing the solenoid, no more CEL.

i have the EGR insufficient code on my 98 cam... but that's probably because most of the EGR system is currently on the shelf in my garage! ;)

I'm planning to reinstall it tho - should help bring down exh temps at cruise on the freeway and maybe better mpg too.
