Exedy throw out bearing broke after 15k.

So i repleced the clutch on my solara with an exedy clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. and after like 15,000 miles the throw out bearing went out.. The exedy throw out bearing is crap. :x When i pulled my tranny back out i looked at the bearing and it dosent even say where it was made at.. So i went to like 5 diffrent toyota delers and found the bearing and put everything back together on the same day. The bearing from the dealership was made in japan and it looked a little diffrent from the exedy throw out bearing.

So I would not recomend putting in a exedy throw out bearing, just get the bearing from the dealer.

yup...that sounds about right...most ppl don't recommend using aftermarket throwout bearings because they tend to be of worse quality. I replaced mine with oem toyota both times I pulled my engine/tranny and it's never done me wrong.

though, on that point- the spec throwout bearing is made by the same company as the one that makes the oem toyota one, but looks slightly different. I compared them when I had them, but ended up installing the oem one anyway since I had it.

I think the USD price on the bearing is around $30 only so, you should be good

Good info. My clutch masters bearing is still going, hopefully it stays that way.

You were able to swap it out in one day?
