Gen 3 Camry turbo?

Gen 3 Camry turbo?

Postby Solley » Fri Mar 27, 2009 8:20 am

hey guys,

so im kinda new to this site and was actually refered to it by a guy on TN.

my question here is if there is anyone that has a 1MZ-FE, auto trans, camry that has turboed it. I mean a nice boost, but nothing where i have to get the tranny rebuilt or motor completly rebuilt as well.

i am still considering 5-speed swapping my tranny so the cam can handle a turbo a little better.

if anyone can give me some names or links to turboed 1MZ-FE cams around here, or any info or suggestions that could help me out would be greatly apprechiated :)

thanks!

If you have to ask, buy another car with a turbo already on it. Figure out how it works, do some upgrades, get to know how to work with a turbo. That's a better way to learn.

that was pretty much no help. OP is asking about the 1mz so even if he bought a turbo car its not the same.

search up tabasco or shidosha (sp?) for his turbo project. Just lurk around the forced induction area and there are plenty of write ups on mild to wild boost setups but remember that it will cost huge amounts of $$$$ since almost everything is custom.

Tips: I've seen the trend of people buying obx headers and modding those to fit their turbo needs for a downpipe. Bat relocation is required if you mount the turbo in its location since theres no space anywhere else. smaller turbos are great for response and gives more results @ same boost compared to the s/c. Turbos on the 1mz avg boost seems 5-7psi
