greddy evo with custom y pipe?

Postby Gibson99 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 10:38 am

I have an evo ii and JP headers/y-pipe, and a *really* free-flow cat. ;) sound at idle is very mellow and not loud at all, and (thank god) it's not loud at all on the freeway. When i romp on it, it sounds a little raspy from inside the car, but the whine from the s/c kinda drowns it out. my brother can be a bit of an ass sometimes... his words were "it sounds like hammered dog sh**" i dunno if he was just messing with me or what, but when i'm driving around w/ windows open and i hear it echo off other vehicles or a noise wall along the road, it does sound a little cheesy to me and I'd like it to be quieter. granted, this rasp may have a lot to do with my free-flow "cat"... once i get a new one on there, i'll try to remember to report back on how it sounds, as i expect a new one to muffle the sound a bit.

Then again, I'm not your typical "modder" and i hate raspy "fart can" type exhausts. I like smooth and subtle, even on a big block. I love the sound an AMG mercedes makes when it roars off because you can't hear it for miles and miles.

Did the custom pipe give you any performance gain?

I think between a new tune Y pipe fedral headers and a high flow cat he picked up about 20 whp.

EDIT
Found it

Looks like a max of 55 whp gain.

:o Thanks! sounds like its worth investigating
