New struts/springs and shocks?

New struts/springs and shocks?

Postby black99 » Mon Mar 16, 2009 6:28 pm

Hey everyone, I have some questions about replacing suspensions on the gen 1. I have a 99 with 137xxx miles on it and I know this is the first time the struts have been replaced, not so good... Ive searched and know how to replace everything so dont flame me for not searching. Im gonna run Tein S-Techs with Tokico HPs.

1) When I replace my struts should I also replace the strut mounts? If so where can I get new mounts and what company should I go with?

2) Do solaras come with shocks? I should know this answer but really havent thought about it much and kinda just dont think about it. If so, what company is good right now? I saw KYB sells strut and shock combos online, are they any good if Im going to run a lowered setup?

3) With my current setup (stock) I know my struts are blown and I keep getting this rattling noise from my front right when I go over bumps. Could it be my strut making the noise or is it the strut mount making the noise? Thats what brought about question #1...
99 SLE auto- Tein/Tokico combo- TRD RSB- 20% tint all around- 50% windshield- custom grill- Alpine 9857- Alpine Type R comp's- Type S 6x9's- Alpine MRP-M1000- 2 JL Audio 12W3v2- "blacked out"

1) Probably a good idea. I don't know of any reputable dealers of OEM strut mounts besides dealers.

2) STRUTS and springs for our cars. KYB = Almost stock ride, Tokico = preferred by most on here.

3) It's the strut that's rattling. My friend's 240SX did that when he just bought it.
