Hello! I'm running 235 50 17 tires front and rear. No rubbing in the rear, but I can hear the fronts occasionally rub the inner fender when I hit a big dip at speed. I'd really like to put some Teins under it. I wonder if this will increase the rubbing? For those running Teins, how do you like the ride?

Also, the other day I was doing just over 100 in a right hander and it felt like the car lost power (hiccup) twice. It hasn't done it before or since, but I'm wondering if this car just doesn't like triple digits?

Those are some wide tires. Teins will get you scrubbing rubber every day. I have 225/40/18s and only get that under hard cornering/quick turns.

As for the 100+mph hiccups, its likely the speed governor kicking in.

My suspension is stock right now. I can't stand the way it looks with the new wheels and tires. I want to bring that front end down an inch at least. I think the tires are just rubbing the inner fender. How much worse would Teins be? It's a drop of just shy of 2" up front right? Are they firmer than stock?

I wonder if that was the governer. I've had it up to 130 indicated before it kicked in before. I know I was between 100 and 110 in that turn. How do I flip the governer to 'off'. I'm sure it's prolly in an FAQ somewhere.

Also, is there a relay I can pull to kill the DRLs or is it just pry up the sensor on the passenger side and unclip it?

i'll tell you what your hiccup problem is, how much gas was in the tank , because when i went and raced at the streets of willow i found that a half of tank or less when in a hard turn you run out of gas, your fuel pump and pickup wont get gas because its a big tank 18.5, so it goes to one side, as u said u were going a 100 in a swooping corner,so it starved for gas........................ :drinking:

That may be. I'm pretty sure it was just over half, but it may be. The turn was a bit tighter than I expected.

My wheel/tire combo is about an inch larger in overall diameter and just under 1/2" wider than your setup. I think the width is the problem.

^True. The additional 0.4" might make that much more of a difference if and when you get on Teins (S-Techs if you're like me). I'd be rubbing fender liner even moreso if I was still running the 205/60/16 OEM setup.

Look under the hood on the passenger side by the firewall for a thick grey plug. Thats where you can unplug your DRL. The sensor on the passenger side is for automatic headlights. If you dont want your lights to come on when it gets dark, pop it up and unplug it.

As for the Tein's, I love mine. I got a 1.75" drop up front and 1.65" drop in the back. They look and feel a hell of a lot better than stock. Your gonna want to get a TRD RSB too, if you dont already. Ive got a 99 SE and I think I read somewhere on here that this model didnt even have a gov. I gone 130+ and it didnt hicup once. Not sure about the Gen 1.5 though.

i love the setu i have on my Solara. I rub when I make hard turns. I rotate and balance my tires every scheduled maintenance. I also rolled my fenders so the rubbing occurs at the rear due to the camber.

roll your fenders to run the 235s, and get the right off set and you should be fine

any wider though, and you'll have to pull the fenders

My wheels are 42mm offset, which is right about what everyone else seems to be running. I think the stock wheels are 40 or 45mm offset.

There's too many potholes around here to run that slim of a tire. Colorado has some of the worst roads, which is a shame. :-?
