driver side headlight condensation

Postby mightymouse402 » Sun Mar 15, 2009 12:34 am

Hello all,

I bought some black housing headlights recently, had no problems whatsoever until today. I noticed there was a bit of condensation inside of the driver side headlight. It kind of looked like cold air was getting in somewhere but I'm not sure. It went away after I had my headlights on for a while when I would drive. Is there any way I can fix this problem?

Any helpful responses are appreciated. Thanks! =o)

The surefire way is to open the headlight and re-seal it yourself.

take the headlight off, and run a bead of clear silicone sealant.. not caulk, all the way around it, covering the entire lens seam.

I know any home improvement store carries it. At least the bigger ones do like Lowe's and Home Depot.

The back of the Headlights have Vents... thats how i think moisture gets into the housing so don't try to reseal it you'd be wasting your time. I found the vents when I did the Black Housing DIY and dunked the housing in a tub of water to check for any leaks and then discovered them.

i have the same issue with the driver side clear corner lens i bought off someone on this forum... im waiting untill the weather is nice and i will located the hole by putting it halfway into water and looking where water will come in, then i will use silicone like the the other guys suggested to clog it up.

Good luck!
