How do you remove rear light bulb holder?

How do you remove rear light bulb holder?

Postby Jeffrey Olson » Sat Mar 07, 2009 2:55 pm

The subject says it all. I've got a 99 SE and the chilton manual says to rotate the bulb holders in their sockets and remove. Well, I can't get them to rotate, and I can't for the life of me see how to pry those suckers out.

Any help???

Jeff...

Do you mean the light for the license plate lights? I have no idea which lights you're referring to.

I mean the brake light and tail light sockets. The bulb goes in from the outside, but to get it in you have to remove the socket, not the lens.

I'm messing with a spare tailight I have and all I can say is make sure you're turning it the right way :-?

And you also need to put in a fair amount of force to turn the bulb.

I actually used a pair of pliers to gain leverage and put some force into it. I had the same thoughts of it being stuck in there for good.
