This might sound dumb/ weird but has anyone set up a hidden button on their Lara to unlock the doors? I ask because I'm terrified of locking my keys in the car (happens more than you think to people). (not me) Well if so how bout some pics, stories? if not then I guess I'll be the first one. I figgure I can just run a set of wires from the lock/unlock switch down under the vehicle/through some grommets and attatch a waterproof momentary switch. Sounds better than an extra key hanging from a magnet. :D

Never heard of someone installing a hidden button. I had that same fear of locking my keys in the car as well. Espeacially with the passive arming alarms that lock automaticly after 30 seconds or so. My alarm that I have now has passive arming and I still cannot get it programed right to where it wont arm automaticly. Even with the passive arming on my SRT 9000 I dont have the fear of locking my keys in the car anymore. Why is that you ask? I ordered mine with the Telematics Mod. It lets me control the functions of my alarm with any touch tone phone. (my cell)
I love it! It has saved me atleast 10 times already. 8)

Good luck with the button thing. Just make sure no one knows where this hidden button is. :)

yeah i have alwasy feared the same! and its happend once! i left them on the floor mat while i was getting something from the glove compartment, but i was stupid enough to have some dude at work use a jimmy stick to try to unlock my door. It unlocked but now my driver door unlocks SOMETIMES and sometimes it doesnt want to unlock which makes me have to walk around the car to unlock the passenger door. I look pretty stupid because i try my door just hoping it works and if it doesnt i have to walk around the car and walk back around to my door haha.

All the people that i know that have done "shaved" door handles have a manual button (usualy hidden in the stearing well) to unlock the cars incase the clicker dies. I would sugest you look into people who have done that and see what they did for the backup release.

hmm.. you mount it on the bottom of the drier side mirror, using a very small weatherproof switch that has a rubber cover, hell, you could even recess it to sit just flush with the surface. That would be awesome!

How about you go to AAA and get a "credit card key" and keep it in your wallet?

theres a system where you mount a sensor on the windshield or window and learn a knock code to it. once learned you just knock the code with your knuckles on the glass and it will unlock the doors. let me know if you wnat me to find a link for it.

Look at it on the bright side, if you have a date you'll look like a gentlemen opening the door for her when you're really just avoiding looking stupid LOL.

Maybe I missing something here but how do you lock your keys in the Gen 2? My Solara doesn't allow me to lock the doors with the electric lock button. The only way I can see locking yourself out is if you accidently bump against the actual latch thereby moving it MANUALLY forward with your hand or hip. Please explain....

You can't lock it with the rocker switch? Geez- I was pretty sure you could.
